From January, HP will stop bundling iTunes with all new HP PCs. The announcement comes after HP similarly decided to stop selling HP branded iPods this June. HP reports that this is due to their new “digital lifestyle” plans starting early 2006. BusinessWeek also reports that HP has been seen cozying up to Microsoft. In turn, Microsoft has announced their own partnership with MTV to launch a music store early next year. The new service to called “Urge” is set to offer the standard non-iTunes setup, with files encoded in Windows Media and no iPod support. Does Apple feel threatened? Probably not the slightest.
