CNET News reports that Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs said during the company’s annual shareholders meeting that a “very exciting” ad campaign will be launched as soon as next week and that it will focus on Macs rather than the iPod. It’s about time too…
“Jobs revealed the plan in response to a shareholder’s question as to why Apple hasn’t taken more market share over the past few years. Apple’s market share declined just a little during the first quarter, in part because some potential customers are waiting until the transition to Intel chips is completed. Once that finishes up later this year, Jobs expects Mac sales to grow.”
The most recent ad campaign intended to promote Macs was launched in January, it mainly related Apple’s switch to the Intel chip. Macworld and ThinkSecret are both providing a summary of the meeting.
Update: There are now 6 ads up at Apple. I’m rather confused, are these supposed to be funny or informative, or both? “Hi, I’m a Mac”…

Happily ever after.

Sorry about the lack of updates, we have been here since the 20th as promised but honestly there has been nothing remotely interesting to post. We could have gone along with other Mac sites and gasp at the number of Macs sold last quarter, we could have told you everyday that the MacBook is coming out tomorrow, but no… With this spare time we have done something quite interesting. We’ve compiled all these old (and recent) Apple ads lying around on our Macs into one place, we welcome you to MacShrine Video. While we’re at it I might as well tell you about our arcade. It was meant to be just for our staff private use, but what the hell… Go play at PlayShrine! No need to thank us.

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.4.6 Update via its Software Update utility and on the Web. Of the update, Apple says it is:
“recommended for all users and includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes for the following applications and technologies: login and authentication in a variety of network environments; file access and byte range locking with AFP file sharing; network access when using proxy server automatic configuration files; connecting to Cisco VPN servers using IP/Sec; using Bluetooth wireless devices; searching iWork ‘06 and Microsoft Office documents with Spotlight; saving Word documents automatically when using a network home directory; creating Automator workflows for iPhoto 6; synchronizing contacts and calendars to .Mac and mobile phones; mounting and unmounting iDisk volumes; compatibility with third party applications and devices; and previous standalone security updates.”
Note: PowerPC-based Macs will restart twice rather than once after the installation of Mac OS X 10.4.6. Anyone know why?
