CNET News reports that Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs said during the company’s annual shareholders meeting that a “very exciting” ad campaign will be launched as soon as next week and that it will focus on Macs rather than the iPod. It’s about time too…
“Jobs revealed the plan in response to a shareholder’s question as to why Apple hasn’t taken more market share over the past few years. Apple’s market share declined just a little during the first quarter, in part because some potential customers are waiting until the transition to Intel chips is completed. Once that finishes up later this year, Jobs expects Mac sales to grow.”
The most recent ad campaign intended to promote Macs was launched in January, it mainly related Apple’s switch to the Intel chip. Macworld and ThinkSecret are both providing a summary of the meeting.
Update: There are now 6 ads up at Apple. I’m rather confused, are these supposed to be funny or informative, or both? “Hi, I’m a Mac”…

Wow - I keep looking around and no one seems to have picked up on this…
In the “Macs aren’t slow” misconception thing of the Apple page (http://www.apple.com/getamac/fast.html) it says “That means on such well-designed hardware, that MacBook Pro runs even some Windows software faster than PCs themselves, according to third party results. (They’re able to get these results with beta software from the next version of Mac OS X, Leopard. Apple Computer does not sell or support Microsoft Windows.)”
Anybody else read that and think they are talking about more than just dual-boot? In other parts they mention Boot Camp exclusively but not here, they just let it say “beta software”. Hmm…

so, i think, by saying “Somehow, you got the notion Macs are slow. But wherever that notion came from, you can put it in the recycle bin. The latest Macs all sport the Intel Core Duo processor,* for amazing performance in small quarters,” apple admits that their previous macs suck because they use IBM power processor.
what an ironic, they use to post how advance their power processors are and how fast they were compared with Intel’s chips.
