Rumors are flying around that Apple is set to introduce a magnesium-alloy cased iPod nano in 6GB and 8GB capacities. Not only will the new casing make the iPod nano lighter, it will also be stronger and more scratch resistant than the current plastic casing. It is also said that colors will be returning (ala iPod mini) but it’ll probably remain black and white to match the consumer Mac range.
Mostly the same as last week but with a new entry by the Dolls at 5 and “Over My Head” re-enters at 7. Paris Hilton drops out of top 10.

Development teams inside Apple have been scrambling to fix errors in Apple’s latest Mac OS X update. The 10.4.7 update which was released just a few days ago seems to have serious issues that affect a substantial number of Mac users. The most common problem appears to be with the updated USB drivers. Users are reporting that their systems cannot recognise external hard drives and in some cases the keyboard or mouse as well. Also many users have downloaded a corrupted version of the update from Apple which stalls at 7% installation. It is not clear wether Apple will wait to fix these problems with Mac OS X 10.4.8 or release a quick fix using aspects of the new code. If you are affected the USB problems we recommend you purchase a USB to Firewire adaptor, users on the official Apple forums have stated that this works.
This is what everyone has been talking about, the CrossOver Mac application to run Windows applications natively in Mac OS X. You can download it here, but be warned it is of alpha quality your using it at your own risk. It requires an Intel Mac (sorry PPC users) and a good chunk of RAM to run smoothly, it’s very memory intensive. CodeWeavers have announced that the final release is set to ship in late July or August and cost $59.99. For more information, check out the official product page. Enjoy!

Many apologies to those that thought we had closed down or were dead, due to personal reasons the editor and staff had to leave the site stranded for a month alone. The issue has now been fully resolved and MacShrine will be normal from tomorrow. We’ve some very exciting new features planned to make up for the past month of nothing! Stay tuned.
