200 million songs sold from iTunes Europe Live WWDC Coverage
Aug 05

A survey published by Apple today could possibly reveal features coming up in the next revision of iTunes. It mentions features such as “a rewards program if you buy more”, “ability to view what my friends wish they could buy”, “ability to view what my friends are listening to now (with their permission)’, “ability to view my friends’ playlists (with their permission)”, “ability to view my friends’ recent purchases (with their permission)” and “ability to view my friends’ favorite artists (with their permission)”. It looks like Apple is trying to make the iTunes Store more social. Also, it mentions how you would feel about Apple adding more movies and T.V. shows to the UK iTunes Store, at last! Maybe this will be previewed at WWDC?

Update: It also mentions about Apple possibly replacing lost songs through a maintenance agreement, as we reported last November.

The latest iTunes is 6.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.4.7 and cannot select it from the list above.

There is an essential feature missing on iTunes on Mac OS X: the possibility to RESUME playback on the song that you left last time you quit iTunes on Mac, rebooted or shut down the Mac. That is very useful to listen from head to tail long playlists and was present on the application from where iTunes was developed (SoundJam MP 2.5.3) back in year 2000.

I have been requesting this essential feature for ages since iTunes 1.0, yet Apple does not seem to listen. The reason why is beyond my understanding!

And yes, I know the workaround of sorting the songs by last played, but I do not want that. I want a true RESUME PLAYBACK.

    Please, please, please!!!

    Thank you.

MacShrine does it again, all the way to the MacRumors front page. Nice job.

You know, I lost a bunch of my songs by accident and I emailed Apple iTunes team and told them my problem. They said they were happy to replace me missing tracks with new replacements, if I went into iTunes and clicked a menu option in ‘Advanced’ I think it was… 2 secs later iTunes began downloading all my stuff I had bought.

Uh, link to the survey? Hello?

There is a resume playback function in iTunes. However it only works per track. Here’s how it works: Select a song, then press command + i. Then go to “Options”. Then check the “Remember position” box, and your done.

[…] Bokardo has a very interesting post about Apple which is ramping up for a huge push of social features in its software: - Wiki Server From the preview site: “Leopard Server includes a Wiki Server to make it easy for teams to create and distribute information through their own shared Intranet website. For the first time, all members of a workgroup can easily create or edit content right from their browser. With a few clicks, or by dragging and dropping, they can upload files and images, track changes, assign keywords, hyper-link pages, view and contribute to shared calendars and blogs, and search for content on the group Intranet.” -iCal Calendar Sharing Apple will add CalDev support to iCal in Leopard, so that multiple people can not only view others’ calendars, but edit them as well. - iChat Screen Sharing In Leopard you’ll be able to share iChat screens with other people, which means that you both have control of the screen at the same time. - iTunes Social Features Survey According to MacShrine, Apple recently sent out a survey asking what kind of social features user would like to see in iTunes. - Teams in Leopard Server Apple is planning on adding a teams feature to next year’s release of Leopard Server. Teams let people set up ad hoc social networks that share calendars, wikis, blogs, and other tools. One word: the future is here… […]
