Looking at the resource files in the new iTunes 7, we found some evidence about an iPod phone. The evidence is based on the fact that the current “iPod phone” (ROKR) can’t do the things that the messages are saying…
“Some of the games in your iTunes library were not copied to the mobile phone [name] because you are not authorized to play them on this computer” and “iTunes cannot sync photos to the mobile phone [name] because your iPhoto Library needs updating. Open iPhoto to update your iPhoto Library”.
So it seems the iPod phone will support full iTunes features such as the new games, movies and photos. It must also have a scroll-wheel to support the games. Perhaps we’ll see this launched at Macworld with the iTV?
Update: Could the phone actually be called “iTunes Phone”? Registration details on the iTunesPhone.com domain point towards Apple.
Update 2: For those who still don’t believe it, go check yourself! We have found even more options for TV shows and Podcast syncing.

Can I just point out that the ROKR doen’t support iPhoto, so what is
“iTunes cannot sync photos to the mobile phone [name] because your iPhoto Library needs updating. Open iPhoto to update your iPhoto Library”.

During the Installer for iTunes 7 on the Mac if you click Customize at the Installation Type step there is an option to intsall “iTunes Phone Driver - This package installs iTunes Phone Driver”. The package is greyed out though and can not be selected.

Look at the name servers for iTunesPhone.com, they’re not Apple’s. Could be a hoax.

there aint gonna be no itunes phone
September 14th, 2006 at 5:04 am
Well this isn’t really an evidence, because maybe Apple registered it to avoid some people putting wrong info there.

[…] Our friends from MacShrine has discovered evidences about a new iPod Phone in the new iTunes 7. This evidence consists on the fact that “iPod phone” (ROKR) can’t do some things bases on this message: “Some of the games in your iTunes library were not copied to the mobile phone [name] because you are not authorized to play them on this computer” and “iTunes cannot sync photos to the mobile phone [name] because your iPhoto Library needs updating. Open iPhoto to update your iPhoto Library”. […]

if this phone were capable of buying from the itunes store, that would explain the new ability to transfer purchased music from ipod to computer.

The iPhone will be great! Surely
September 14th, 2006 at 8:42 am
@matt - That was exactly my first thought, that they will be selling music away from your computer. It would also allow Apple to sell iPods pre-loaded with songs.

I have a more detailed description at my blog http://abscond.org/blog/archives/002270.php, that may persuade some of these commenters that don’ believe in the iPhone

This doesn’t mean anything. You’d get the same error if you tried to copy a game to your iPod and your computer wasn’t authorized. I get a similar error message all the time. In fact, if I tried to sync my SLVR to a computer that wasn’t authorized, i’d get the same exact error.
The iPhoto error is the only one that brings credibility… because I’ve never seen that error before. So if there is a new iPhone in the works, perhaps it’d support only newer versions of iPhoto… it’s still doubtful.
This is probably the least amount of evidence for an iPhone that i’ve ever seen.

Have you read about 3G phones? The 3rd Generation phones allow for Video/Movie playback on the phone itself. 3G Technology is just starting to make its way around the world… a bit late in the start. If you live in the US by the time US gets 3G phones everyone else will probably have 4G.
So this really doesn’t prove that Apple is making a “iphone”. The support you mention could just be for the newer 3G phones. Which will allow everything that has been posted and at http://abscond.org/blog/archives/002270.php if you read the post.

What the hell are you talking about?!
3G is a generic name for third generation cell phone networks like WCDMA (UMTS, HSDPA) and CDMA2000 (1xRTT EV-DO). It denotes increased bandwidth and related services (like video-calls and video-conferencing) and has nothing to do with a cellphone’s ability to play videos.
I’m not sure in just what kind of a cave you’ve spent the last 5 years, but there are and were 2G phones that played video loooong before 3G.
September 16th, 2006 at 8:41 pm
totally agree 3G has been around for years and it doesn’t denote the fact that a mobile can playback videos. I’m sorry but a 12 year old even knows this. Any way, would it not make aIot more sense that apple are just releasing a long awaited OS for mobile phones to compete with Windows Mobile and Symbian? Or that their just releasing a new iTunes for mobile phones? It’s all about achems razor…. the simplest answer is generally the right one… We’ll find out on the 25th any way.

[…] Today, Apple released the Dashcode Developer Beta toolkit for OS X Tiger, it seems like a weird coincidence. Many developers are expecting this is a sign of Apple opening to 3rd party widget development for the iPhone. I have installed the toolkit and so far haven’t found anything related to the iPhone (they probably learned from previous leaks in iTunes). The beta version expires on July 15, 2007, but the application will be part of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard release. […]
