Seems Apple has gone all Holiday on us with the new ads and now making Apple Store staff where shirts with the following slogans on the back:

1. Give movies, give music, give TV shows.
2. Give now. Borrow later.
3. They asked for something colorful. Didn’t mean a sweater.
4. Tech the halls.
5. For a PC user it’s not a gift. It’s an intervention.
6. Looking for something they’ll actually wear?
7. This could be the end of regifting. And rebooting.

We’re taking these are Justins last series of commercials after the news that he’d be leaving Apple. They’re pretty cute like all the ads so far, there’s a “Gift Exchange”, “Sales Pitch” and “Meant for Work”. Watch the ads.

DigiTimes are reporting that Apple, and other LCD vendor companies such as ViewSonic and Dell, are set to launch a widescreen 17″ LCD screen. Take this with a pinch of salt as DigiTimes have a historically bad record at rumors. Oh well, one can hope - and we really hope!

LCD monitor vendors expect 17″ widescreen monitors to replace entry-level and middle-range 15″ and 17″ LCD monitors in the future. The prices for 17″ widescreen monitors will not necessary be higher than 17″ 4:3 models because of more efficient panel cutting by makers.

As predicted, Apple today updated their MacBook range to the new Core 2 Duo processor series; too bad they’re still stuck with the crappy ‘950 graphics card though. They’re available right now and the specs are:

$1299: 13.3″, 2.00GHz, 1GB, 80GB, Intel GMA 950

Justin LongJust a quick note saying that Apple has ditched the Mac Guy from their “Get A Mac” ad series. Apple sure runs through their campaigns fast, I haven’t even seen one of these ads on British TV yet. No word on if they kept the PC Guy, but we’re guessing not. So can we expect a brand new series next year to co-incide with Leopard? We’ll have to wait and see.

xbox360It has been some time in the making, but Microsoft has finally announced their online video entertainment strategy for the Xbox 360. Beginning on November 22, Xbox 360 owners will be able to buy and rent over 1,000 hours of programming using the new Xbox Live Video Marketplace. The Marketplace will see Microsoft selling programming from CBS, MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures, Turner Broadcasting, Ultimate Fighting Championship and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. “CSI,” “South Park,” “Batman Forever” and “Nacho Libre” are a few of the titles that will be offered by year’s end. At launch, TV shows will be offered as download-to-own, while movies will only be available as 24-hour rentals. Microsoft has also said that users will be able to re-download content for free, in the event that users delete content to make space for new purchases, or even if users want to sign in to Xbox Live and download the show on another console. Shows will be attached to a user’s Xbox Live gamertag. The service will launch in the US, but Microsoft plans to expand it to other territories over the coming year.
