Apple yesterday seeded a new version of Leopard (build 9A326) to internal Apple employees. This latest build is reported to have fixed bugs from the last build (9A303) such as Quicktime crashing, printing problems and issues with .Mac such as iDisk synching. Apple continues to gloss over the interface, refining it even more and there is an overly presence of black gloss. This build is also completely stable on Apple’s latest Core 2 Duo MacBook and MacBook Pro. Apple is trying to gear down development to get this build out to developers before the New Year. New “internal” features include improved Core technology, faster boot-up times and support for external flash memory as temporary system memory (similar to Microsoft Vistas tech). Boot Camp 1.2 is included in the build but no readme was accompanied and we cannot identify any new features, it appears the same as the current 1.1.2 beta to us. Spotlight has got new meta search abilities including the ability to search other Macs on a network. Safari 3 has improved RSS support, with ability to view videocasts and listen to podcasts in browser. iSync is not present in the build it has been replaced with a new Sync Manager. TextEdit also features support to export and open new Word 2007 documents.
Update: For those wanting screen shots, sorry we won’t post any because we really don’t want have to deal with Apple Legal for like the millionth time. Just wait until January or the proper developer release.

So does this mean that sync services and isync functionality is being rolled together under one roof with sync manager?

Die Version mit der Build-Nummer 9A303 bringt neben den üblichen Fehlerbehebungen auch einige interessante Neuerungen mit sich. […] Apparently the newest build of Leopard (released Tuesday) is going to sport some nifty new GUI (this from MacShrine). It’s also the first time I’ve seen anyone also stating they think Apple’s on a second-Tuesday release schedule… Which means January ought to be interesting (MacWorld SF). […]

Why no other rumor websites quote or at least mention this last release?

Interesting, although not all that surprising. it’s just an XML format and should be fairly straightforward to parse. Of course microsoft always does its best to make things har but there’s a limit on how far you can go in that direction and still have valid XML.
This does beg the question as to why it would take Microsoft so long to introduce a translator.

Please, please, PLEASE tell me that Finder is FINALLY getting the bottom-to-top remake it has been desperately needing since it’s inception. And, hopefully, all those horribly annoying networking bugs that have existed in OS X.

[…] Leopard version 9A326, according to rumor site MacShrine, was seeded to internal Apple employees yesterday with a substantial amount of upgrades to the next-generation OS. The new seed is said to include improved compatibility with video and audio podcasts in Safari RSS, numerous bug fixes, and Boot Camp version 1.2. The iSync application was not included in the seed, instead replaced by a new ‘Sync Manager’ suite. […]

Until you see the new interface, why bother commenting on how good/bad it will be? I’ve always longed for a black interface but unfortunately there are many issues with them, however it’s usually due to the limited resources of the dedicated & talented SS Themers, rather than them being inherently bad. Personally I don’t find white on black difficult or painful to read - Two more contrasting colours don’t exist. If you end up not liking it you can always go and experience the joy of Aero *cough* or use a SS theme.
I’m excited that Apple are reworking Aqua. It’s been around quite a while now and needs a makeover, so at least they are doing something, whether it is driven by Vista or not. Of course, anyone who posts a screenshot is likely to end up in bother with Apple Legal so I don’t expect to see it for a while….

[…] Apple today seeded Mac OS X 10.5 build 9A321, which is around 4-5 days older than the build seeded recently only to internal Apple employees. Apparently the reason an older build was supplied is so as not to give away new features that will be previewed at Macworld in January. […]

Have you had a chance to try out the new Sync Manager? I am really looking to finally getting all in one Palm OS sync application. This half way support with iSync and Palm Desktop doesn’t cut it. Thanks for any word on what sync services or conduits are supported.
I know missing sync clears up most of this, but I would rather have apple pick up the slack.

[…] Illuminous - As of 12/10 I hadn’t heard boo about “Illuminous”. Apparently MacShrine and MacGazette are reporting their respective angles on a supposed new GUI of Leopard and have either dubbed it Illuminous themselves or are privvy to some code name we’ve not really heard of yet. I’ve downloaded both of the developer seeds and will not give credence to either of these reports that an Illuminous GUI appears in the build. […]

Explore posts in the same categories: Apple, Rumor, Digital Lifestyle […]
