This new Samsung D700 is due to be formally announced next week but already it is causing a stir online with people proclaiming the iPhone dead before it’s even shipped. We won’t put anything to that claim but yes, it is rather stunning. Full(ish) specs are below…

This is the second vaporware article this site has run on iPhone competitors. That is, neither product (the other is the Meizu
is any closer to shipping than the iPhone. In fact, the Meizu 8 is listed as shipping, vaguely, next year!!!
These could be no more than photoshop mock-ups, but whatever, I am not knocking your point. They are cool looking and worthy competitors, if they ever ship.
But to claim (or even republish), “the iPhone dead before it’s even shipped,” based on a mythical product that has no physical truth is so ridiculous that I am beginning to wonder why I have you bookmarked in my RSS reader.
Love or hate Apple, I don’t care, but maintain some journalist integrity. Please.

Except this isn’t vaporware… it will be shipping late Summer/early Autumn.
Next week at the 3GSM event, we’ll see all the new “next-gen” phones that will essentially be competing with the iPhone. These will all be real products that will be coming to the market this year or early next year.
