New iPod classic and nano have volume bug Spotlight search in iTunes Music Store

We’ll make this quick as we’re mightily upset at how Apple is treating us Europeans. A press conference was held at the Apple Store here in London this morning and they announced the iPhone will finally launch here on 9th November via O2 for £269. As America, it’s only available on an 18-month exclusive contract. That’s all very well but what’s with the high price? Doesn’t Apple know we Brits expect to have the handset cost dissolved into our contract? Can anyone remember when they had to pay for a contract phone? Also no 3G? What is this.. 2001? And don’t even get us started on the pathetically overpriced tariffs. Screw you Apple. Sort this mess out. Fast.

On an 18 month plan, at 25 pounds, O2 normally offers 200 minutes and 400 SMS messages and at 35 pounds, it’s 600 minutes and 1000 SMS messages.

So it looks like you’re getting “unlimited data” and “Wi-Fi” roaming for 10 pounds.

I wish the US AT&T plan included “Wi-Fi” roaming — as it is I’ve got to pay either AT&T or T-Mobile an additional $20/month to roam on about 1/3 of the publicly available Wi-Fi sites.

Anyway, it doesn’t look that they’re jacking up the tariffs on the phones too horribly much — in fact, they look about the same but with a data tariff added (the SMS reduction is unfortunate, but interestingly exactly mirrors the AT&T pricing).

I’ve read some reports of the iphone being hacked for use with pay-as-you-go. I’ll only get the iphone if I can use the iPhone with PAYG. £35 a month is far too much for the time you get.
I almost bought the iPod touch. For an extra £40 I can now get the iPhone.
