As predicted, Apple today updated their MacBook range to the new Core 2 Duo processor series; too bad they’re still stuck with the crappy ‘950 graphics card though. They’re available right now and the specs are:

$1099: 13.3″, 1.83GHz, 512MB, 60GB, Intel GMA 950
$1299: 13.3″, 2.00GHz, 1GB, 80GB, Intel GMA 950
$1499: 13.3″, 2.00GHz, 1GB, 120GB, Intel GMA 950

MacBookApple UK is currently running a promotion on all Macbooks with £56 (~$105) discount. The promotion ends 31st October. It has been suspected that Apple was due to hold a special promo event in November, all we need now is proper confirmation. We’ll probably see the MacBook Pro updated at the same event as well as the iPod video - all in time for Christmas, yay!

We didn’t actually believe the reports of MacBook peeling, we’d just seen pictures of paint chipping. Thanks to a reader, here’s a picture of their MacBook… Yikes. It does look nicer beneath the plastic though.

Arghhh, I’m getting tired of all these MacBook and iPod rumors. Just release the darn things Apple! The Register has the “latest”…

Update: I found this on Colorware. Could the new iPod red simply be something like this? The U2 black and red was a lot nicer.

“An unverified anonymous source claims that Apple stores are receiving materials for a new window display that’s labeled “do not open until Tuesday, May 9th.” The source also claims that Apple has directed its stores to push iBook sales this weekend, presumably to clear out inventory.” reports MacRumors. In addition to receiving further confirmation of more Apple Stores receiving materials for a Tuesday product release, Apple’s iPod page spilled the beans with a reference to the as-yet unreleased MacBook. The page is now fixed however. The 17″ MacBook Pro is to start shipping next week also.
